Development of functional materials from scratch
Rainer Jordan holds the Chair of Macromolecular Chemistry at the Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. He studied chemistry at the University of Mainz, Kyoto University and at the C.N.R.S. Thiais/Paris, graduated in 1990 and obtained his PhD in 1996 in Mainz. After his PostDoc at Polytechnic University, Brooklyn, N.Y. he was appointed Assistant Professor in 1998 at Poly and completed his habilitation a the Technische Universität München in 2004. His main research interests include defined polymer synthesis, self-organized systems in solution and at interfaces and biomedical applications of polymers. He published > 250 scientific papers and received numerous awards including the IAS and PROCOPE Fellow by the DAAD and the Dr. Herrmann Schnell Prize by the GDCh.
